InfoPath 2007 Picture As Link doesn't support TIFF images

Miguel Isidoro

Hello,

I am resending this post due to the lack of answers in the previous time. I
am designing an InfoPath 2007 form template and wanted to insert a picture
control as link that receives an URL to a TIFF image (ex:
http://site/image.TIF) but
aparently the control doesn't support TIFF images unless the image is
embedded into the form, where this file type is already supported. Do you
know if there is any workaround for this using the picture control, or even
if there is an ActiveX
control that supports TIFF images as links, possibly with zoom capabilities?

Thanks in advance,
Miguel Isidoro

Hi Miguel,

You could possibly use any TIFF-compatible ActiveX control to view the
image. This sounds like a browser dependency not an InfoPath issue. The
browser should pass the responsibility of displaying the image to the
operating system, so a control like:

http://www.alternatiff.com/

Might help. I haven't used this control before, so not sure if it will
solve your problem.

Gavin.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I tried the ActiveX control and it doesn't work in
InfoPath. Any other suggestions? To give u a little bit more context on what
I would like to do, I would like to show a scanned TIFF image that is the
stored in SharePoint picture library inside the InfoPath form. As scanning
products and for image quality reasons, store images in TIFF format, this
would be a requirement. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Miguel Isidoro

Hi Miguel,

Do you get an error in the activex control? Or does the file not display?

Gavin.

Hello Gavin,

I have managed to add the control but its properties are not available. When
I go to the General tab in the control properties, I get a message saying
"All properties of X360 Tiff control show on the Application Properties
Window".

Thanks,
Miguel
