Infopath Crashes while switching views with more records....

T

Thiru

I have master/ detail control in my file and using around 5 different
views.... in master i have around 5 records and each view, i am filtering the
master records so that only one record which matches that criteria will be
shown. The related details records (one to many relationship) will be shown
below.

Now the problem is....if i have just one detail record per master record and
if try to switch to another view, it works fine....but if have more one
detail records per master record and if i try to switch to other view,
infopath crash and closes by itself....Can anyone help me to solve this...?

I am ready to send this file through email if you dont the question....

Many thanks for your help...

Hi,

Hard to tell without looking at the actual form. Can you email it to me?

OK, thanks. I got your email.
Works fine for me...really!
So, now the question is: which version of IP are you using? Did you upgrade
to SP2?
If you are not running the latest version of IP, you just may want to
upgrade....

Let me know if it works!

When you open that form and switch to other views other than default
view...it does not show detail record by itself and we need to add by click
insert item....is there any way to show the details by itself.

Also, since it does not allow more than one detail record per master record,
i have added two repeating sections...is it the correct way to do or any
other best solution you can suggest?

Thanks

Hi,

Looked at your file. Looks more like a design logic issue than an IP issue.
Why is your Master table repeating? It doesn't even need to be there as the
Sub Category was already picked in your Drop-Down linked to Field34.
There is a mix up between the View Change and the Master Table behavior,
which are the same in essence (Sub Category Selection), but prevent the form
from working properly....and maybe can lead to a crash (which I didn't
experience)

To me, you need to re-think your form (and its schema). You should remove
your master table and you should have one single View with one Sub-Category
drop-down that does the filtering for the repeating table ("detail").

You would need a Master table only if The Main Category was changing (in
group 12)..and it is not the case. In fact, Field34 and Sub_Category in
group12 contain the same info.....except that one is in a repeating group and
not the other, which explains the form behavior.

You may want to clean your schema first.

Do you see what I mean?

Dear Franck,

I have sent you the IP file which I have modified as per your
suggestions….but I don’t know how to do the following…

1.As soon as the users select the sub category from dropdown list, sub
category field under repeating table should be updated same as dropdown text
(but now its changing as soon as I change the dropdown…it should be updated
only after clicking the “GO†Button
2.I have put the filter function in the repeating section but it does not
seem to work…

Can you please guide/help me?

Thanks agn
