Infopath - Excel combination solution required

Hi,

I am very new to InfoPath. I have an Excel document which has facility
installed to pull info in from an external program. I'd therefore like
to design an Infopath form that somehow makes use of these already
populated cells. Can I either:

1. Have infopath extract the data out of the cells
2. Include infopath forms in excel

... I guess both will achieve my objective.
