infopath merge form functionality

in a share point page i have a repeated checkbox column that users will
select infopath files and click Merge forms. The problem is when
merging selected files it append a blank template. eg to merge file a
and b the result i got is blank template then a then b.
I want to stop appending the blank template on merging.
The other thing is after finishing merge is there a way to change the
file to be viewed by browser programatically.

Please help
