infopath only updates records - does not create a new record in Ac

Good afternoon,

I have been working this problem for several days now and have not figured
out how to remedy this issue. I have a basic InfoPath form with a data
connection to an Access database. If I open a new form from scratch, fill in
the data and submit, Access captures a new record in the database.

Here's the problem - when I open up a saved InfoPath form that already
contains some data, and modify that data and submit - Access updates the
previous record instead of making a new record. I want to allow for users to
use existing forms to submit changes to data...but I don't want it to modify
previously submitted records. Please help!!!

Thank you so much!

As I wrote in the previous post, do take a look at what rules /
dataconnection gets fired when you click the submit button.
You can check this out by clicking Tools Menu->Submit options

Do let me know if that helps or you need further info.

Thanks,

Paresh,

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I don't have any rules associated
with my submit. I am using a standard submit to database option, but can't
seem to get the form to submit new records rather than updating existing
records. My goal is to be able to allow the user to pull up old forms that
they created, change a couple data fields, and then submit that form as a
brand new record to the database.

Is there any chance that I have my database set-up incorrectly to
automatically update the record? I'm really at a loss on this one - and if I
can't get the database to accept new records rather than updating existing
records I may not be able to use the InfoPath form.

Please help!
