InfoPath Resources For Beginners

V

Vaibhav

Hello All

I want to develop applications using InfoPath.

I have looked at the samples in InfoPath SDK, but they are on a little more
advanced level than required for beginners. Like i was looking at
'DataInterop Sample' and i see 'Preserve Code' in many of the attached
views. Also in the folder i see *.xsd,*.xsl files. Are these files created
by InfoPath or by developer creating the forms ?

My knowledge on xsd, xsl, xsf is quite limited, what is the best and fastest
way to get on track with InfoPath development ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I want to develop applications using InfoPath.

I have looked at the samples in InfoPath SDK, but they are on a
little more advanced level than required for beginners.

So you know that pages ?

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX010857921033.aspx

http://msdn.microsoft.com/office/understanding/infopath/default.aspx

But without more or less "good" knowledge of XML / XSL etc. you won´t have
much chances to develop things in infopath ...

why not look or download webcasts (if having a fast flat rate) ?

most of them are really advanced, but that ones are easy to follow:

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=25198

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=27740

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=28300

and that ones should be OK as well:

http://msevents.microsoft.com/cui/eventdetail.aspx?EventID=1032259537&Culture=en-US

www.microsoft.com/seminars also contains a seminar about InfoPath

Here are all webcasts concerning infopath i found - unsorted (mostly
""heavy"")

To download streamed webcasts:

1. Download and install Net Transport - shareware
http://lycos26486.l97.lycos.com.cn/default.htm

2. Within the running webcast: right mouseclick within the film to show
properties
copy the link which looks for example like:
mms://streaming.placeware.com/aa4/SCG/web/r/mseventsbmo/9xx2nlk60nmsl1ld/wmm-25821/placeware.wmv

3.Start Net Transport
4. Download / New download
5. paste the link into URL
6. OK

Then the webcast video is streamed on to your harddisk ...

You may customize Net transport to download up to 10 files at the same time.

(I found that hint within a blog site for webcasts)

There are much goog and simple examples on http://www.infopathdev.com

The xsd, xsl files that you are speaking about are probably the one
generated by Infopath with file/extract form files. They are contained in the
xsn file which is a cab file. You can go back to the xsn with a right click
to the manifest.xsf and select design (thanks to Developping Solutions with
Infopath from P.Halstead).
