InfoPath, Sharepoint, and Mobile Users

Hi All,

We are working with an MS partner to develop InfoPath 2007 forms to collect
data in the field. Currently, we use a custom Exchange 2003 Public Folder
contact form that allows the user to fill the form out in the field, and
when they connect to our network the forms sync to the public folder. We
would like to duplicate this functionality but also build upon it using
InfoPath. However, the MS partner doesn't think we can do what we want. If
anyone can tell me if this is possible, I'd appreciate it. We want to
accomplish the following:

1) User is connected to our network, which allows the InfoPath forms and
underlying data used in combo boxes to sync to their machines
2) User leaves the network and fills out forms in the field. Once a form is
completed, it is submitted and the user moves on to the next task
3) The next time the user connects to our network, they get updated forms &
data if they exist. In addition and more importantly, some mechanism
(Sharepoint?) automatically pulls data from the forms they've completed in
the field and drops it into an SQL database (Access or MS SQL)
4) We mine the data

We're new to InfoPath & Sharepoint so we're a bit reliant on what the
consultant tells us. However, I find it a bit hard to swallow that in the
day & age of mobile computing such a solution wouldn't exist, natively,
within these products.

Any & all help, suggestions, etc. are appreciated.

Ciao

This is possible Tony.

There are a couple different configurations depending on what you require.

Essentially you want offline forms. Which includes data sources, and then
the synchronization.

Some of the options are offline folders, custom forms, Microsoft Groove,
Local databases, quite a few different options. To many to list in a post
here.

You can email me here directly if you would like to discuss further.
