Hi,

I'm new on this and i need to know if the Infopath permits workflow. I'm try
to create a application based on Infopath to publish in SPS 2003. My
application permits insert in Sql Server and show grids of results from SQL.
I need Upgrad rows too. It's possible do this in InfoPath ?

Thanks in advanced

Hi,

Yes - InfoPath can be used in work flow types of scenarios. If you need
complete work flow capabilities, take a look at lab #12 at the following
site:

InfoPath Training
http://msdn.microsoft.com/office/understanding/infopath/toolsandcode/default
.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/odc_2003_ta/html/odc_landinfo03_tr.asp

However, you can design an InfoPath solution in and of itself that, for
instance, would only show a section once the previous section has been
approved. It also allows for the form or sections of the form to be
"digitally signed" to insure data integrity. You can submit an InfoPath
form to a Sharepoint library which would then allow you to take advantage
of various pieces of Sharepoint's functionality.

There are numerous other training sections at the above URL and the
following may also be of interest:

InfoPath Technical FAQ

.mspx#ECBAA

I hope this helps!

I'm interested in the type of "infopath only" solution Scott mentioned.
I'm trying to have a form on which new sections appear only after the
initial user has submitted the form. The workflow is for a software
purchase request, where the user submits the request form by email to
his supervisor, who then approves it (or not) and submits it to
sharepoint for the financial admin. Naturally the user shouldn't be
able to approve his own request!
I've tried making the new sections (which have the button to submit the
form to sharepoint) appear as actions when a "submit for approval"
button is clicked, but the problem is that they appear no matter if the
submission succeeded or not. Plus, the form remains open in case the
user needs multiple pieces of software, so he doesn't have to re-enter
a bunch of data, so once the submission finishes the sections show up
for the regular user.

Does this sound like something that can be done in Infopath alone, or
do you think I'll need to do something more complex?
Thanks for any tips you can give me!
