are you able to link an excel document with an infopath form so that when you
type in your excel document in will show up in certain boxes in your infopath
form.

Maybe. It depends on how you do this. Excel does have a number of ActiveX
controls (which I'm not too familiar with). If of the spreadsheet controls
supports XML you may be able to bind it to the same field as another control
so that the data shows up in the secondary control.

Take a look at the ActiveX controls listed in the Add or Remove Custom
Controls dialog. You should see a number of Excel controls that you can try
out.
