Information Rights Management (IRM

I'm not clear on the implementation of IRM in Microsoft
Office 2003.

What exactly does a company need to implement IRM?

I have read that you need:3
Windows Server 2003

A database such as Microsoft SQL Server, Windows
Server Active Directory, and an RMS-enabled application or
browser.

Updated APIs will be required for Windows clients
and will be made available via Microsoft Windows Update.

Or

... WRM client
... Windows Server 2003 / W WRM services running
... .NET passport registered with Microsoft's IRM
Services

how does it work ( connecting to the server) - because I do not see any place
where it specifies a server?

Any information s greatly appreciated!
