Initialize the root folders to dispay problem in office 2007

Everytime I want to open a folder or file, or browse through to find a
file
to open, and my Office programs take along time, if ever, browsing
through.
I get and hourglass, and it isn't until I doubleclick and get the "Not
Responding" error, that it finally goes browses. However, it does that
at
every stage.

I think it is trying to Initialize the Root Folders everytime. It
never
used to do that before. All my other programs browse immediately
through
the open command in the menu bar. Office does not.

I have a similar problem. I am running XP Tablet edition SP2. I have network
mapped drives. However, I also had those drives before installing Office
2007. I did not have this problem then. Also, this problem seem to appear
only with Office products. I have offline folders mapped which has all my
working files. It is not feasible to diconnect mapped drives. Are there any
other alternative solutions to this problem?? It is extremely frustrating. A
solution is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
