Ink not persistent

R

Rainald Taesler

I had a really strange thing this afternoon.
When trying to put anything with the pen on a document (and even
outside a document) when I did click somewhere else on the screen or
changed to a different page, the ink input got lost. It just flew
away.

I have no idea on what have been the case.
I had not changed anything and did just continue where I had stopped
working in another room.

After a reboot this strange issue was no longer there.

Anybody having any clue?

Is it possible that you selected the "Use Pen as Pointer" tool rather than an
actual pen? This tool looks like a pen, but has a gray gradient bar
underneath it. My understanding is that it is designed to allow you to mark
up a page temporarily (for example while giving a talk, or teaching a class)
without actually making permanent edits to the page.

Both ;-)

Never noticed that and no idea on how this kind of function might be
activated.
How and where would one switch on this feature?

I'm doing this in PowerPoint presentations (and this was the # 1
reason for buying a TabletPC instead of a notebook).

But I simply do not understand what you are talking about ... {siiigh}

As said. I just did what I always do. And the drawings and handwriting
flew away.
It has not happened again since this one time.

There is a KB that sounds like this
KB917148
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...85-8D2C-43B6-89E9-BE6F089D15FE&displaylang=en

I installed it when I was on ON2003, and the problem stopped happening
to me; but then I upgraded to ON2007 beta, and haven't seen the issue
since either.

Thanks, Andy!
I assume that this patch will not be for ON 2007.
I'll wait and see if the symptom will appear again.

It was a single accident so far.

Hard to tell what the beta software of OneNote 2007 will require, although a
lot of "fixes" are included in the newer version. Until OneNote 2007
reaches a more mature state (release quality), knowing which way to jump is
impossible.
