Ink sporadic OS-wide after installing Office 2007 Beta 2 TR

After installing the technical refresh (though I saw the same behavior with
the regular Beta 2), ink is spotty throughout the OS. It's almost like the
pen just stops sending input (or the OS stops receiving it). I've done a
clean install of Vista RC1 (though this was happening on XP Tablet 2005,
too), and verified that the only thing changed between the working Ink and
when it starts acting up is installing Office/OneNote 2007.

Given that OneNote is the program I use most, and that it's where I first
noticed it, I'm hoping that there is some known issue I can fix. Any ideas?

Can you check your build number?
5728 is a post-RC1 build that was released yesterday. RC1 itself is
5600.
If you installed the post-RC1 build, how did you go from 5600 to 5728?
Did you upgrade?

Patrick,

Build number is correct ... this is a clean install of the post-RC1 build
that I installed yesterday. Though as I mentioned, I was seeing the same
issues on Windows XP under the Beta 2 (non TR) build as well) on this same
machine. I listed it as RC1 since that's what it says on the screen.

Just trying to find out if there's a quick fix (besides going back to Office
2003), or a known issue with this particular machine.

The build still calls itself RC1, but isn't anymore. Microsoft doesn't
change that designation until a new release candidate build comes out.
This sounds like an issue that Microsoft needs to look into.
You should go on connect.microsoft.com and sign up for the OneNote
connection. Then submit feedback describing your problem in detail and
giving information about your hardware and where/when you saw the
problem. Someone from Microsoft will then work with you on figuring out
what is going on here. It could be a few days till you hear back from
Microsoft though. Try to submit this feedback asap.

Thanks for the suggestion, Patrick. I've gone ahead and submitted an
official bug on the issue, so hopefully that will get some attention. Living
close to Microsoft, I wouldn't be surprised if they asked me to bring the
machine in, which I've done in previous betas.

I was just hoping that someone else with similar issues or hardware might
have come across a fix. I really wanted to give OneNote 2007 a thorough
workout this quarter. At this point, I might have to uninstall the beta and
move back to Office 2003 on this machine.
