Input Mask for Phone number

I use Access2000 create table. For a phone field, I set
Input Mask as (___) ___-____. When I enter number into the
field, the cursor can not move forward, it always stay
there to overwrite character except I press Right key.
But in Access2002, I do not get this problem, why?
