When I want to duplicate one row, I copy, do insert copied cells -- works great, place a duplicate row above.

But what if I want to duplicate 4 rows? There is no feature to duplicate 4. Its like you have to deselect and start over. anyone know? thanks

After copying select the same number of rows you want the new ones inserted
above, then use the Insert Copied Cells command.

Thanks Bob, why didn't I think of that? So simple

simpler still is to select the four rows, drag them (grabbing at the
edge of the selection, where the cursor turns into a hand) while holding
down the option key (to cause a 'copy' rather than a move) and the shift
key (to cause an 'insert' rather than an 'overwrite')

Ahhh, Good point, Barry, but that only works if you already have the number
of consecutive rows you want to replicate :) My interpretation was that he
only had *one* and wanted to create four more like it... Otherwise he could
have done the "select & copy N rows, Insert Copied Cells" thing.

YEah Bob had it correct.

Not sure even how to follow your technique Barry, loved to see a video (screenshot video on that one)!

Unfortunately a video clip would do no good because it can't show you the
keyboard :) Maybe a slight variation on the description might help;

Let's say you have four consecutive rows and want to create another four
just like them. What Barry proposes is to select the four rows to be copied,
then hold Option+Shift while you drag the selected cells/rows to the new
location. You have to make sure, however, that you drag the selection by
having the pointer on the *edge* of the selection - the pointer appears as
the drag 'n' drop Hand with a + on it when properly positioned.
