Insert Date field

I have created some general correspondence templates and inserted a "Date"
field. When I open up the template, it puts in the current date, e.g. 8
September 2003, but if I wanted to have a look at that letter that I created
a week later, it updates the date as well. How can I put in a field that
automatically puts in the current date, but keeps it at that date forever?

Would appreciate help...it's probably really simple

Hi Caroline,

Use a { CREATEDATE } field in the template. Then the data that will appear
in any document that is created from the template will be date upon which
that document was created.
