Insert drawing vs. insert ink drawing and writing

Elbert

Hi,
Word seems to do the same thing whether I insert>picture>new drawing or
insert>picture>ink drawing and writing. If there's a difference, please tell
me what it is.

Thanks,

Elbert

Hi Elbert,

If you're working on a tablet PC the result will look similar.
Underneath, they're different types of embedded objects.
(Drawing Canvas shape file vs MS Ink object).

Ink objects may or may not transfer correctly to non-tablet
PCs (can depend on the version of Word a person opening the
file is using, for example) and if the Ink/alternative input
features (optional install) are in place for a desktop user.

Bob,

Thanks for the reply. Whichever I insert--drawing or ink--I can use the
drawing tools and also draw with the pen. If as you say, drawings will
transfer OK to non-tablet PC's, and ink drawing and writing may not, I guess
I'm better off ignoring the ink drawing and writing option, and just use
insert>picture>new drawing.

I have to confess it's still a puzzle to me why, if I can do exactly the
same things with either, MS would provide both--especially since one may
transfer OK and the other may not.

Thanks again,

Elbert
