Insert Equation Function

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

How do I install or download the insert equation function?

When I try to insert an equation into word (Through the Insert Object menu item) there is no insert equation link to select.

You shouldn't have to "do" anything. If you did a drag-and-drop install of
your software, it should just be there.

I suggest that you have an incomplete installation.

Run the Remove Office tool from the CD to clear out the old version, then
insert the CD and drag the entire Microsoft Office 2004 folder to your
Applications folder. Your Mac will figure out what to do from there.

Once you have done that, you MUST download the updates from Microsoft and
apply it, since the new install from the CD will not have ANY updates
applied. Click here:

After installing that one, run "Check for Updates" from the Help menu, and
make sure there are no others...

Cheers

John,

I don't remember about 2008 I believe I actually used the installer.

But in 2004 there was a warning recommend that although you could Drag
and drop install it was a Basic install. But if you want to customize
your install. (Add extra components not normally installed.) To use the
installer I did this with 2004. I believe I also did so on 2008.

Hi Phillip:

In 2008, you HAD to use the installer: it is the only way to insert the
software into the computer. Office 2008 is issued as a series of .pkg files
that require the Apple OS X installer.

Office 2004 is issued as a .dmg which you can drag-and-drop.

The drag-and-drop is a "FULL" installation. The installer enables you to
leave bits OUT, but if you drag and drop, you get the lot :)

Cheers

I knew there was a reason for recommend the use of the install over the
Drag and drop on 2004. :)

Thats odd. I never had the installer to get sick on me. One thing that
may have help is I put all the RAM my g4-500 could use. (1.5GB) and when
I bought my G4 17 Powerbook had apple install 2 GB the most it could carry.

Unless the price goes down when I get around to replacing Tower with an
Intel Mac I don't think I will fully load it though I might add an
addition 4 or 6 GB.

Hi Phillip:

Yes, I was thinking the same thing...

I have been in the habit of saying "Fill 'er up!" when buying new hardware.

But the Mac Pro takes 32 GB. I expect that will rise to 64 GB when the new
one comes out, and it will be DDR3 memory, I suspect.

I see that 64 GB of DDR3 ECC RAM can be had for a trifling $10,416.00.

Umm... Maybe just half a tank {Blush!}. I filled the car this week :)

Cheers
