In a new Word 2003 document, do the following:
1) Click on the Insert/File command
2) On the "Insert File" dialog, Browse to a WordML (2003) document
3) Click on Range and enter a bookmark name
4) Click on the drop-down "Insert" button menu and click on "Insert as Link"
No content appears... The field instruction is apparently inserted properly,
but it doesn't include the bookmarked content in the document.
If in step (2) I select an equivalent DOC file instead of the WordML
document, the bookmarked text appears. If I skip step (3) and do not specify
a range, then the entire WordML document contents appear. If in step (4) I
select the plain "Insert" command instead of "Insert as Link", the bookmarked
text appears.
It seems to be the combination of (a) WordML, (b) Range, and (c) "Insert as
Link" that causes the problem.
Has anyone run into this problem and if so, is there a way to get this to
work?
