Insert file order

Mike

Hi,

On my harddisc I have several plain word-textfiles, f.i.

A.doc
B.doc
C.doc
D.doc

When I want to insert some of these files in a new empty word-doc, I
choose 'insert file' in Word and I get the 'explorer pop-up' to search
the files I want to insert.

If I want to insert only files A, C and D in this order, I use <CTRL>
to choose the 3 files I want.

The problem is that if I use the <CTRL>-method, always the last file
(in this case D) is inserted first, so the order on my page is D, A, C!
But I want the order to be A, C, D!

If I use <CTRL> + A (to select all files A, B, C and D) there is not a
problem and the insert order is OK!

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
(In explorer my files are in alphabetical order)

Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike-

AFAIK its just how Windows works. Try selecting the files in reverse order
of how you want them inserted. Seems to work for me.

If the text files really do have a *.doc extension then the boiler.zip macro
downloadable from my web site will insert the files in any order you wish.
It will not work with the *.txt extension.

Hi Mike,

Your post almost suggests the answer, which is quite counter-intuitive:
First select the file you want to insert last, then select the rest in
order.

Cheers
