Insert from PrintScreen - automatic resize

Q

Word 2007
I do this task: make a PrintScreen, then insert it to IrfanView (it has by
default resolution 72dpi), then copy a fragment of the image to clipboard,
then finally insert it to Word. I think this is a common way to insert a
fragment of the screen to Word.

The image is always automatically resized to 125% and each time I have to
resize it to 100% . Is there a method to either set Word to always insert
images at 100% size, or to change the Word resolution to 72 (because I found
that the difference of resolutions may be the problem and also that Word
default is 96).

You can change the default resolution to 72 ppi. Office Button | Word
Options | Advanced. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click Web Options.
On the Pictures tab, change the ppi from 96 to 72, then OK out.

Unfortunately, it does not help in my case. I thought it might help because
there were other threads on this forum about automatic resizing of pictures
and they suggested that the dpi difference is the problem. But currently, my
default Word resolution is 72 dpi (changed in the Web options as suggested),
and the resolution of the IrfanView is also 72 dpi. I even started a new Word
document after changing the default dpi settings, but it still resizes all my
images pasted from Irfan to 125% (although they are quite small and occupy
less than 20% of the page width or height).

However, the size of image pasted to Word is correct if I use Paint program
(from Accessories) for clipping the PrintScreen. So from now I will use Paint
(in Paint the resolution is also 72dpi, if it is relevant at all), but it
would be nice to know how to do this with other programs like Irfan - this is
not a problem with the graphical program itself, but rather with something in
between Word and the program.

By the way, I also made a test and reversed the Web settings/Files in Word
back to 96 dpi and pasted a Printscreen cut from Paint. And it was 100%. So I
would think that in this case resolution in Word is not the cause of
autometic resizing.
