Insert frustrations

In my new Office XP Professional, whenever I want to
insert at text box or Auto sahpe, I immediately get a
large "Creat your drawing" box. I have to put the insert
inside that and then try to figure out how to delete the
exterior box without deleting my insert. Then I have to
move the insert to its designated location. Is there a
setting I can go to to turn that step off. My old version
of Office allowed me to immediately insert things without
such a "box" step.

go to Tools->>Options->>on the General Tab uncheck the box that says
"Automatically create drawing canvas when inserting AutoShapes".
