Insert horizontal bar into document

A new project requires an embellishment to separate body text from
annotations.
The embellishment is a 3.5-inch horizontal bar with a bead on each
end.

I have created a kludge by selecting the embellishment and placing it
in AutoText. I assigned it a cryptic text string however that does not
insert the embellishment as it would text. I have to open Tools > Auto
Correct > Auto Text and click it and then it appears. While this is
better than copying it from one file to the next, it is still clumsy
and surely not the best way to manage this. Is it possible to make
the embellishment into a style?

Many thanks.

You should be able to insert it from Insert | AutoText. But perhaps your
name for the entry has the same first few letters as the name of another
AutoText entry? You will not get the AutoComplete tip until you have typed
enough characters to uniquely identify the specific entry.

I am grateful for the two replies I have received to my inquiry
however I still cannot get the bar to insert by typing "embline" which
is not assigned to any other Auto Text. Neither does pressing F3
assist the process.

If I may, I should like to again pose my original question regarding
the possibility of making a style of the beaded bar. Might this be
possible? If so, it would also assist me in learning to use that same
process for future needs. I have created styles for other documents
elements involving text however my approach did not work with the bar.

My thanks for your patience and time with my newbie questions..
