Insert image into Word 2003 without compression

Charlotte Howard

Hello,
I have some high-resolution images that I want to insert into a Word 2003
document.
I have found in the past that Word automatically down samples images.
Is there a way to prevent this happening?
Thanks
Charlotte

What are you considering "high resolution"?

Word downsamples because it isn't designed to output directly to commercial
presses/imagesetters. The size would bloat the file & choke the program...
Besides, Word doesn't support CMYK anyhoo. The 200-300 ppi resolution is
quite sufficient for anything less than commercial output.

If you have a real need for something higher than that, copy the images to
the same folder as the doc, Insert them as Linked files (rather than
embedded) & send the whole mess off to the print shop when ready.
