Insert Menu - No Insert Page number option

The 'Page Number' option is missing from my Insert menu on my Mac Office Word
program how can I resolve this?

Hello Paul,

Go to Tools menu => Customize => Customize toolbars/menus => Toolbars, make
sure "Menu bar" is selected (top left) and "Normal" (bottom left), then
click "Reset".

If you have previously customized your menus, don't do this; post back.

An aside: As you may well know, using the Insert menu => Page Numbers
inserts a text box. If you work on long documents, or shorter ones in which
you want better control of the appearance or position of the page number,
choose View menu » Header and footer » type up the header or footer and add
the page number via the ³#² button on the toolbar that appears.

Incorporating page numbering as part of the header or footer makes it much
easier to control the formatting, since this method inserts a normal page
number field (the appearance of which can be changed manually, or globally
via styles) rather than a text box (which can¹t be changed via styles).

Before Clive's instructions, first check this:

Make sure you didn't accidentally turn on "Word 5.1 Menus". Look under
View to see if there's a check next to that option. Uncheck if so. If
that isn't the problem, go back to Clive's post.
