Insert Object is empty in Word 2004 on MAC OS X

What are all of the files involved with populating the
list when you click Insert, Object in Word X or 2004 on
MAC OS X?

I have found that the Carbon Registration Database is one
of them but it appears that other files might be invovled.

Regular users get nothing in the list and administrators
get the full list.

Hi Ryan,

We had some issues with the OLE/Carbon Registration database in Word vX
(mostly when the Home folder was not in the startup drive). However this
should have been fixed in Word 2004. If you delete all your Microsoft
Preferences and the Carbon Registration Database and launch Word 2004 does
this still happen?

We are running Office 2004 from NFS mounted Home directories and keep
encountering the error "Object Library not registered" whenever we
load spreadsheets with Macros. We had this error with Office X and it
is still there in Office 2004. The solution back then was to delete
the Carbon Registration database file and it appear the solution these
days is to delete the OLE Registration database. I really wish this
problem would just get fixed.

I appreciate your information. It has been very useful. I
would also appreciate some clarification.

The problem seems to be with network accounts. Local MAC
accounts work fine. Users logging in through a Solaris
server, who have their home folder on the server, have the
problem. You mentioned that "However this should have
been fixed in Word 2004." Do you know if it is still a
problem and if anything will be done, when the home folder
is on the network?
