Insert Picture but Turn Off Thumbnail View

Could someone PLEASE tell me that there is some way of
turning off the default Thumbnail view when you try to
insert a picture from a file into power point? It doesn't
seem the rembember the settings at all. I found a hack to
do this in Word but word has a default template and power
point doesn't.
I've turned off thumbnails everywhere else.

I'm running Office XP under Windows ME.

Do you mean, the thumbnails that come up when you
are selecting the image file? If you change the view using
the "Views" button, you can change the current view
of the image files to List, Preview, Thumbnails, Properties,
and so on. But you're right - it doesn't seem to "take"
when you come back to insert more pictures via the
Insert | Picture | From File... command.
I'd love to find a way to change this myself.

I am aware that you can change it manually. The problem is
I have to change it every single time I open the Insert
Picture window. I have a lot of large EPS and JPEGs in my
directory so oftentimes power point will stop responding
because it's caught trying to generate thumbnails for each
image.

The Knowledgebase claims this item has been fixed with a
hotfix to Office XP service pack 2 (See Microsoft Knowledge
Base Article - 301459). However, it's not something you can
just download. Apparently you have to send them an email
and ask for it. I don't know but I don't think I've ever
gotten a single reply to any email I've sent microsoft so
I'm not holding my breath on this one.
