Insert Picture - explorer window

Is there a way to set a default view for the Insert
Picture window, it seems to have the Thumbnail as the
default but i would like to change it to Details or some
other less time taking option [thumbnail takes too long
as it has to generate the thumbnails]

Thanks,

-David Khalil

In Word 2002 (XP) ...
Tools, options, edit tab ... there's a pulldown menu
(insert/paste pictures as: choose how you want your
images to display.

Thank you, but that wasn't what i was asking, what i'm
inquiring about happens in the tranisition to inserting a
picture into Word, not once the the picture is in Word.

the window that opens that shows the default directory (i
refered to it as an 'explorer window') the files in view
in that window show up as thumbnails (a setting somewhere
i presume), you can change the view option once open, but
it doesn't stay that way. I'd like to change the defualt
view from 'thumbnail' to something else like 'details',
something that would generate quicker than 'thumbnails'

Thanks,

-David Khalil

Hi David,

For Word 2002 you need a macro to change the
Insert=>Picture dialog. MS has included the
one I created awhile back in this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;301459&FR=1
There is also a 'hotfix' available by phone
to MS for Word2002 that should also be included
in the next Office XP service pack.

In Word 2003 the last view used 'sticks'
and the macro is not needed.
