Insert picture

Hi there. I am trying to insert a picture taken from a new camera into my
PPT 2002 student/teacher edition. It won't let me paste the picture. I get
an empty picture box with the ol' little red box with the 'X' in the upper
left hand corner. I can paste other pics without any problems, just the
picture from the new camera. The picture is a DSC_####.jpg file, 1,489 kb.

Thanks for any help you can give

Michael, have you saved the picture to your harddisk or do you try to insert
it directly from your camera?

On the issue "Red X" you find a lot here: http://pptfaq.com/FAQ00064.htm

Don't use copy & paste. Save your image to your harddrive. Reduce it's size
to max. 1500 pixel wide. Then use Insert - Image - From file to insert it
into your slide.

Ute

It's saved on the desktop. Sorry I wasn't more clear: I did go to
Insert...Picture. I don't really know how to make the file smaller. Is
there a simple (free) program that makes it easy to do? I dunno if I have
any software to reduce the file size. i am running Windows XP.

Thanks for your responses.

Try this free microsoft resizer -
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

Easy to use application. just right-click and choose resize image.
