Insert Pictures From File: how to make preview always active?

Hello,


how can the "preview mode" made always set active upon
"Inserting Pictures From File" ?

I do know that Insert Pictures From File uses the "current directory."
So if you open a picture from a directory it should keep using the
same directory until you open a picture from a different directory.
But we would like that "preview" is always the preferred mode
for inserting pictures even the last user used an other mode.

Is there a hidden swich for that or a regitry tweak ?

Hi Bill:

Insert Picture uses the file path specified in Preferences>File
Locations>Clipart Pictures as its default for each session of Word. Specify
this path to take you straight to where you want to be. Leave it blank to
have Word default to the Microsoft Clipart folder.

The default mode for displaying directory contents is set by the operating
system.

Now, why is it that I have a horrid feeling you are using a PC? Something
about your reference to "Registry" I think. There is (technically) no
"Registry" on the Mac. The settings that go in the registry on the PC are
in Word Settings X on the Mac. This is an XML file that you can edit if you
can figure out how, but a depressingly large number of the settings are in
binary, so most of us do not bother.

If you are on a Mac, from within Word use Word>Preferences>File Locations to
set your Picture path. If you are on the PC, it's Tools>Options>File
Locations...

To set the default directory view, read your operating system's Help. On
the Mac, you set it through the Finder. On the PC, through Windows
Explorer.
