Insert Pictures into merge document

J

Jeff Bendert

Hello,

This post is a thread based on the earlier post on
September 11 with the same name. I had the same issue,
tried what was suggested and it did not work.

I am using Word XP SP3 & Windows XP

I have an Access database with a field called "Photo."
It is a hyperlink datatype. In the field, the hyperlink
points to the graphic file of the person for that record.

My pictures (jpg's) are stored in the following
directory: c:\photos

The database is saved on my desktop (not sure if that
matters)

In Word I created a Directory merge document. When
inserting fields, I did as suggested and used the
InsertPicture field. I toggled the field and made the
following edit to it:

{ IncludePicture "c:\\photos\\ { Mergefield Photo\*
upper }" }

When I perform the merge the result is the field
displays, "Error! Filename not specified"

Any thoughts on why this does not work?

What is the result produced by the mergefield on its own
i.e. {Mergefield Photo}?
If that is not the filename of the image
eg filename.jpg
then this method isn't going to work.

Never mind, it does work. I read the instructions closer and pressed the F9
key to update the merged document. Thanks.

I was just about to point that out :)
