insert row/column command dim on Excel Toolbar

I've already tried the suggested method by dragging a command from the command list to the toolbar. I dragged the 4 insert/delete row/column buttons to the toolbar. They all remain on the toolbar, however the two insert buttons dim and remain unusable. I'm able to use the insert command on the menu bar, however, I would like to have these commands on the toolbar which would save me considerable time. Does anyone know of a solution?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Dan -

I'm just guessing because I'm not at a Mac where I could test, but I believe
those commands may require that you select at least 1 or more *entire* rows
before they become active. If that isn't the problem be sure to mention
specific version of XL & OS X when you post back.

You don't say which version, but in both XL04 and XL08 there are two
different Insert Row/Column buttons. Likewise two delete buttons.
Unfortunately, they use the same icons, and its only in the description
in the Customize dialog that the distinction is made clear.

The Insert/Delete buttons from the Edit category are only applicable to
lists managed by the List Manager.

The Insert/Delete buttons from the Insert category are applicable to
normal worksheet rows/columns.
