Insert Symbol option disappeared in Insert Menu

The Insert Symbol option has disappeared in Insert Menu (also in full
view of the menu). Now I inserted the Insert Symbol in a toolbar, but
how can I get it back on the Insert menu??
Note: It disappeared when I clicked on something and the cursor
changed to a thick horizontal line and then I coincidentally clicked
on the Insert Symbol item in the Insert menu.......

You probably pressed the "secret" key combination Ctrl+Alt+- (top row... not
the one on the number pad). This command is most useful for removing items
from the recently used files list, but can be used to remove the
next-clicked item from the menu or toolbar.

To get Insert Symbol back on the menu, since you already have the tool on a
toolbar, you can now simply press Ctrl+Alt and then drag using the left
mouse button to copy the tool back into the Insert menu. With Ctrl+Alt
pressed, point the mouse at the Insert Symbol tool and drag to the Insert
menu. It will expand. Drop the Insert Symbol tool where desired (usually
between Field and Comment).

If it weren't already visible/available, you'd need to use Tools -
Customize. But, since it's already accessible, you can use this shortcut
method.
