(Word 2002) When I click the Insert Table button on the
standard toolbar I get a dialog box to size the table
instead of the much quicker drag-to-size a table. Why is
this? How can I get the drag feature

I have sorted this now! (Thanks to previous post).
Unbelievably there are two identical buttons with
different functions attached. The default is called (in
the Tools/Customise menu) 'Insert table' (the annoying
one), but there is another called 'Table insert'(the
familiar one).

Well done Microsoft guys - a classic!

To insert the drag-to-size follow the following steps:
1.Click Customize on the Tools Menu button. You get a
Customize box with Toolbars, Commands and Options.
2. Click Commands and in Categories select Table.
3. In Commands section you find the Insert Table Icon.
Select it.
4. Drag it and place it where you would like to have it
on the Tool bar.
5. Close the Customise box.

You will be able to use the drag-to-size a table option.

Actually, the Insert Table button is the very one George is trying to get
rid of. The one you need is TableInsertGeneral from All Commands.

George,
Did you ever get an answer? Someone just posted it again
in February. My problem is that suddenly my insert table
icon will only allow me 5 columns and 5 rows. Any idea
why? Carol
