Insert the Microsoft Access 2000 Runtime Disk

I have been trying to update my tried and true Office 2000. In running the
install program for SP-1 (yes, I know, it should have been done a long time
ago), the system tries to install Access 2000 runtime and when it can't find
the CD with that on it, gives me error 1706 and won't let me install the
update. Any ideas?

You must have the original disk in order to install the update.

Apart from what Tom has said there is a SP4 for Office 2000. Why are you trying to install SP1

I never installed SP1a. Everything worked fine for years. I hate doing things
that Microsoft tells me to do because they always seem to screw up the
computer somehow. Anyway, I finally decided to install all of the updates
that are available but can't get past the first one. I originally purchased
Office 97 and the the Update to Office 2000. I can't get the SP1a to work

What happens when you just insert the Office 2000 disk?

It tries to configuer SR-1 and returns the error message that tells me the
Microsoft Access 2000 Runtime Disk is not available, insert it and click OK.
I've tried both the original Office 97 CD and the 2000 update CD. Neither
works.

Hi Jim,

What Office 2000 Edition do you have and do you have any other MS 2000 series programs listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows
control panel?
