INSERT/TYPEOVER KEY

Does anyone know why one cannot typeover text in Publisher using the Insert
key? If there is a way, could you please let me know. Many thanks!

Not on top of an image at all. Just as one uses the Insert Key to typeover
existing TEXT in Word or Excel, I would like to type over existing text in
Publisher. I'm doing nametags - use the same format each week for meetings
with three different fonts per tag. It would be nice to be able to replace
old text with new by using the typeover/insert key (0 key on my numerical
keypad), rather than having to highlight and delete.

You could set up a template with a single letter (easily deletable) instead
of a name, or you could use Mail Merge.

(It seems that the Ins key does nothing in Publisher)

Hi, Janice -

Maybe you can set it up as a table. I think I read one of your posts and you
are using three fonts? Set up the table with as many cells as you have format
changes (set it up for one or more rows, depending upon your layout.)

Set up one "template" table - typing in a name. Format the cells as
necessary to get the letter or letters to look like you want them to- keeping
just ONE format in each cell. You can then just hit TAB to jump from cell to
cell --it highlights whatever is in the cell and if you type what you want it
retains the formatting of what was highlighted and replaced. (Hope that makes
sense.)

You might really have to fiddle with the cell formatting - like setting side
margins to 0 and having your text hug the right or left of the cell. (If you
have to do a lot and you have to do them often, I hope this works for your
requirements.)
