insert Visio pages into Excel

Stefi

Hi All,

Sorry for cross-posting, but I've put this question also in Excel forum and
no answers up to now. I hope a Visio expert can answer it.

I have a Visio file with more then one pages. I'd like to insert these pages
into separate Excel worksheets, but always the first page is inserted. Can I
somehow insert the other pages as well?

Thanks,
Stefi

I've found the best way to do this is to save each page as an image
file and then insert the images.

Thanks, Paul, this is a nice workaround. We can only hope that MS will
eliminate this obvious imperfection in some future version.

Hello Stefi,

I also used Paul's methos until I recently happened to look at something
similar recently for Word
(http://groups.google.co.uk/group/mi...10d85/be825ba8c64286b6?hl=en#be825ba8c64286b6),
so I'll add a few specifics for Excel.

It basically works in a very similar way except that in Excel the Insert
Object just only produces a single link (and of course the same page). So to
use the Paste Special method do the following:

For each Visio page that you want to insert into Excel, select Copy Drawing
from the Edit menu (ensure no shapes are selected on the page) and then Edit
/ Paste Special into Excel (ensure the Paste Link option is selected in the
Paste Special dialog).

The syntax for the link ends up the same as Word (ie
FileName.vsd!\Drawing\~PageName\Sheet.ID). Note, the last part (Sheet.ID)
is just if you're pasting in a single shape, which could be a grouped shape.

Hope that helps.

Best regards

John
