Inserted images keep jumping around

Right now I'm creating a document in WORD 2000, and I'm attempting to insert
pictures into the text. I've reduced the file sizes of these pics as far down
as they can go. For some reason, I can't adjust the size of one pic in the
document, or adjust the placement of the pic in the oducment, without it
ending up in a place I didn't want it. It'll jump up one or two pages into a
spot that I don't want it to be. I'll try to drag it down to where I want
it, as soon as I let go of the mouse it jumps right back up. For some
reason, the pics just won't stay where I want them to be. They keep jumping
around.

I've also tried creating text boxes to put the images into, yet I seem to
have the same problem with the images jumping around.

One possible problem that I've thought of, is that certain images I have
repeat themselves on each page. So I've been opying and psting them instead
of manually inserting each one. Would the copying and pasting of these images
cause them jump around? Do I have to manually insert each image?

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Don't know what's causing the problem, but you can try holding your Alt key
while you drag.
