Inserted projects sharing one resource pool??

I want to have an integrated programme schedule that uses the same resource
is this possible?

At the moment i'm inserted the project and they all have their seperate
resources, which is fine but the reason i was the schedule is to add a couple
of test environments as resources so i can see when they are being used and
for which project so i can easuly see if they are over allocated?

Any ideas of a better way i can do this?

Thank you

Projectability

Project elegantly supports the notion of Shared or "Pooled" resources -
ideally the resource pool should be a separate project file with no tasks,
it should however list all of your resources.

To share resources from the pool you need to have it and the sharer project
in memory. From the tools menu select Resources, share resources, use
resources from and select the Resource Pool file from the list. Ensure that
the "Pool takes Precedence". You also want to ensure that you use a
consistent naming convention for resources across all projects linking to
the resource pool. If you link a sharer project to the pool it will
associate resources with "exactly" the same name with resources in the pool,
if there are resources in the sharer that do not exist in the pool they will
be added to the pool. If your naming is slightly disorganised you can end up
with resource duplications, for example:

J Doe
John Doe
John F Doe
Jon Doe

These might all be the same person but as far as project is concerned they
are 4 different resources.

You can link up to 998 projects to a resource pool at any one time although
having large numbers of sharer projects can slow down performance in
Microsoft Project.

Thanks. I've done everything you've said but when testing it to see if it
will show me when the resources (from the resource pool seperate file) are
over allocated it isn't...what am i missing?
