Inserting a comment --, it is not highlighted

One of our users has a problem with inserting a comment
into a Word document, the comment is not highlighted. Any
suggestions as to where to find the settings for this?

Word version is 2000.

Does the user have "Highlight" checked on the View tab of Tools | Options?

The other way round: with Word 2000 I would like my
comments WERE NOT highlighted! Normally they are!
