Inserting a drop down list in an cell

Can anybody give me some pointers as to how I do this. I know I need t
create the list somewhere on the spreadsheet but how do i insert th
function that gives the drop down arrow and the box to view the list i
the target cell

Create your list down a single column, somewhere out of sight.........then
left-click on the cell you want the Validation Box in, then Data >
Validation > Allow List > then click on the Source window arrow, and then
highlight your list, then click on the window arrow again, then > make sure
"In-cell dropdown box is checked, then > OK
