Inserting a picture in Word

When I insert a picture in a Word Document it sends an error report to
Microsoft and then shuts down Word. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

Is this any picture or just one picture. What format is the picture? Do you
get any error message. Which version of Word and Windows are you using? Are
they both patched up to date?
