Inserting a Windows Media video file

Mike

I am putting together a presentation but when I try and
insert the video file nothing happens. It is a large
240mb file so I don't know if that is the problem. I am
able to add other smaller files with no problems.

Any suggestions??

That's definitely an enormous file and may cause performance problems, but
its size shouldn't impact whether it can be inserted. What is the source of
the file - - did you create it, is it from your camcorder, etc.? What
version of WMV is it - - WMV9 or earlier?

You say "nothing happens." Does that mean that you get no error message?

What version of Windows Media Player do you have installed? What version of
DirectX is installed? Are you inserting via Insert > Movies and Sounds >
Movie from File?

What version of PowerPoint and what version of Windows are you running?

I am running Windows XP Pro, Powerpoint 2000, WMV 9 and
DirectX 9. The file was downloaded from the internet and
the 25 minute video plays fine when run through the WMV.
When I say nothing happens I mean that I do not get any
error messages and the picture never comes on the screen
with the message to start it when moving to the slide or
by clicking on it. When I insert smaller sized videos
they pop up on the screen almost right away. I was
insterting via movies and sounds from file.

I was mistaken, it is actually an AVI file not WMV
