Thanks very much for the reply. This was not exactly what I was referring to
although it was a helpful document. Let me explain my scenario in a little
more detail. I have an intranet site running on my XP machine on my network.
The other network users get to the site via the inside IP address of my
workstation ie.
http://10.0.0.100
I have my publisher web site published there. The adobe file that I am
trying to make available is employee_handbook.pdf. The adobe file sits in
wwwroot folder where all of the other site files sit. I have tried creating
a link in the web site to the file as follows:
http://10.0.0.100/employee_handbook.pdf
When you choose this link from the published site you get a "page can not be
displayed" page.
I have also tried placing the document in the site by doing the following in
Publisher:
Insert >object>create from file>Adobe Acrobat Document>and then browsing to
the file(employee_handbook.pdf) in the wwwroot folder and choosing OK.
Publisher places an Adobe Acrobat icon in my page but when you publish the
site and try to access the document (click on the adobe icon that was plced
on the page) It is not a link. In other words, it is like it is just a
picure of an adobe symbol or just some text or something. It is not a link
that you can click on.
I am sure this is something simple and probably some fundamental thing that
I am doing wrong but I just have had no luck making it happen.
Any other ideas?
