Inserting an .avi file into '07 Power Point.

Been working on this for five days! I am creating a training program, only
7 slides but there are two .wav and four .avi.

I have created this file on four separate computers with the same result:
the presentation will "run" on the computer on which it is made; will not
transfer to another via jump or CD. I have converted the avi to wav...but
this does not fix it.

Is there a size limit on the avi or wav inserted into a slide? Each one of
these files is about 25megs. I have noticed that this total Power Point is
"showing" as about 58megs. How can I do this? My boss is getting crazzzy

First of all, many thanks for taking time to engage this question!

In reading the Quick Fix for WAV SOUNDS:

Is this "fix" in Movie Maker? When I go there from Tools-Options-General:
I do not see the "link sounds with file size...: tab. Please, what am I
missing?

I have read through the PPTools discussion. WOW...excellent stuff. Yet,
some of us still know so little that we are "dangerous"! From what I think
I understand, I need to place the wav files into the same folder as the
PowerPoint. I feel so inept...not sure what that means.

I have managed to save the .avi files into .wav. Is that a "first" correct
step or should I be able to work with the .avi files from the SD card into
the Power Point?

Again...thanks to all for the point-in-the-right-direction: I should not
have committed to have this done this week!

UPDATE:

I have attempted to re-create the presentation in a "Folder": this does not
work. There is a discussion about increasing the size "limit" of the
wav...but I can't see where this is done.

Also, I have converted .avi to .wav: makes no difference!

Can Mr. Gates really have made it all this difficult...just for me!!

I really don't understand how you can save an avi file (film) to a wave file
(sound) ?

To incease the limit : Tools/Options/General Yab : instead of 100 Ko, put
50000 Ko

No, it's an option in PowerPoint itself. Office button -> PowerPoint
options -> Advanced -> it's near the bottom.
I have read through the PPTools discussion. WOW...excellent stuff. Yet,

All the stuff on your computer is saved in folders - like the 'My Documents'
folder - and you can create your own to keep your files organised. Like a
big filing cabinet. So, in PowerPoint with your presentation open click
Office button -> Save as -> this opens the 'save' dialogue box. Click the
button that says 'My Computer' on the left hand side -> now your hard drives
are listed in the big area in the middle -> double click your local disk
drive (probably called 'C'). Now in the top right hand corner of the
dialogue are some little buttons - click the one that looks like a folder
with a little star in one corner (if you hover over it it's caled 'create
new folder'). Give it a name (such as Presentation) and click ok. Now you
can save your presentation. You need to move you wav and avi files there and
then re-insert them into the presentation.
I have managed to save the .avi files into .wav. Is that a "first"

Now, how have you done that? A .wav is a sound only file but an .avi is a
movie file. Sorry, I'm confused :-/

We'll get you there :)
You may want to look at Plays For Certain which can deal with most of this
stuff for you automagically: http://www.playsforcertain.com/
