inserting animated background

I'm trying to insert animated backgrounds in my presentation for my church with no luck. I have access to wmv, mpg and mpg4 files. Can this be done in PPT Mac 2004? Will it be necessary to upgrade to 2008? Does 2008 run animated backgrounds (movies).
