Inserting Audio into PowerPoint 2007 & Vista

I am using Windows Vista and PowerPoint 2007. I have inserted a .wav audio
file into different slides. The files do not play when the
slide is shown, either automatically or after being clicked. I have tried
saving the PP file as a 2007 version and also as a '97-2000 version. Neither
played. All files are saved in the same folder.
I then copied the '97-2000 file and the audio files to my laptop that is
running XP and everything worked fine.
Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

If it all worked ok on your laptop, it may be a path length issue.
Create a folder with a very short path (C:\Test for example, if Vista will, in
its infinite wisdom, permit such a thing) and copy the PPT and audio files
there. Does that work?

If not, have a look here:
