Hellooo!

I am creating a manual for our procedures at work. I have
hyperlinked pages to the document. However, I would like
the definitions just to appear when your mouse is moved
across the word. I dont know what this is called or how
to do it??? I think it may be called a text pop up and
how do I do it in word?

Word doesn't really support this kind of thing. What you
describe is "native" to web pages.

Closest Word has would be to insert COMMENTS that contain
this information, as COMMENTS show up when the mouse hovers
over them.

However, a manual to be read on-line should probably be done
as a webpage...

I think what you want is a "screen tip". When you create the hyperlink,
click the screen tip box and type the text you want to display when the
mouse is moved over the text. One more note - to view screen tips, must
have Tools, Options, Show Screentips selected on the View tab. Hope that
helps.
