How can I insert an image into a table cell? I want to place images into a
column, but couldn't figure it out.
I just inserted clip art into a table, with cursor in table, used Insert |
Picture. What is not working for you? What version are you in? I'm in Word
2004.
I suspect the problem is the picture format. If you already have the
picture in a Word document, under Format | Picture, Layout tab, I think the
picture needs to be set to "inline with text" to enable it inside a table.
Otherwise it is in the drawing layer of the document, not the text layer.
You can tell which layer it is in because graphics in the drawing layer have
little white selection boxes while graphics in the text layer have gray
selection boxes.
You might want to read this article for more information:

(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)
(If you are using Insert | From File, there's a checkbox "treat picture
layers as separate objects" which I think needs to be unchecked. But it is
unchecked by default here--and checking it still allowed me to insert into a
table, and still comes out inline with text, hmm...I'm no graphics expert,
so don't know what is going on there...and I was able to put a picture
already in the drawing layer in the table as well, though it certainly
behaved differently.)
