Inserting list of academic references in word 2007

I am having problems inserting refences into a research document I am
writing in word 2007. I use the "insert endnote" function and then simply
paste the source reference into the endnote and it works fine as a
bibliography. However, problems occur when I need to reference the same paper
more than once as the endnote function will not allow multiple references to
the same endnote (I don't think).

I think technically I should be using the "insert citation" function but
this doesn't do what I want it to (which is to insert a superscript number in
the text which refers to an item in the bibliography) and instead opens a
complicated menu requiring me to enter each detail of the source individually
rather than simply copy/pasting it from a website etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks very much,

I assume you're using the Endnote feature rather than Word's new
bibliography feature. One way to accomplish what you want--at least I think
this is what you want--is to insert a cross reference to the same endnote.
In the References tab, click Cross Reference. Set Reference type: to
Endnote, and set Insert reference to: to Endnote number (formatted).
